Built on the idea of eradicating the middlemen or the agents, NoBroker emerged from being a bootstrapped business for the initial12-15 months to becoming the first unicorn in the proptech environment. Akhil Gupta, Founder and Chief Technology & Product Officer, NoBroker, at the BW Unicorn Summit & Awards 2022, shares how all similar platforms have had a journey of their own. "The first step was to get supply online by collaborating with agents. With that, over time, it became a channel for brokers to get demand but it did not solve the problem of tenants or buyers."

Gupta goes on to add how C2C marketplaces are essential to building equilibrium and at the same time, are extremely tough to build. "It takes time. But after they are successful, then there is a lot of snowballing effect," he observes.

NoBroker's formula of staying consistently connected with consumers lies in catching them early. "We keep track of when exactly they move and help them with services like loving and packing, painting, deep cleaning, pest control, etc. We also know that they have to pay rent in time. That's where the NoBroker Financial Services or legal assistance comes into play," adds Gupta.
