UpGrad To Join Unicorn Club, Raises $400Mn

This round will mark the platform’s entry into the unicorn club. Before this round of funding, the start-up was valued at $850 Million. This investment will multiply Upgrad’s value by 500%

Venture Capital and private equity funds are set to invest in the ed-tech platform upGrad. The amount raised in investment is speculated to be $400 Mn, pushing up the valuation of the platform to over $4 billion. This round will mark the platform’s entry into the unicorn club. Before this round of funding, the start-up was valued at $850 Million. This investment will multiply Upgrad’s value by 500%.

Earlier in 2021, the start-up had raised $160 million in two separate funding rounds led by IFC and Temasek. upGrad is also looking at acquisitions of international players in the upcoming months. For instance, Northern Arizona University is set to join upGrad’s Study Abroad program, in addition to recent partnerships with James Cook University, and Germany-based International University of Applied Sciences. All these programs will involve individual mentorship and hand-holding across the platform.
