Udacity Announces Cybersecurity Nanodegree Program

Pioneering lifelong learning platform will collaborate with innovators in the sector; has already received commitment from RSA Security for USD 50,000 in scholarships

With the world becoming more and more digitally connected, Cybersecurity has emerged as a key challenge for businesses as well as individuals. Udacity, the pioneers in advanced tech education has identified Cybersecurity as their next big focus area for training and announced the launch of their new Cybersecurity Nanodegree Program. The announcement was made by Udacity founder Sebastian Thrun at the annual RSA Conference — also announcing USD 50,000 scholarships along with RSA security for the future students of this program.

Businesses and individuals around the world have moved to cloud platforms to host their data. Data breaches are regularly compromising the privacy of millions across the globe. The need for innovative cybersecurity professionals and sophisticated solutions is now more acute than ever. The number and complexity of attacks are increasing, but the talent pool of cybersecurity professionals has not kept pace with the increasing demand. With the launch of their new Cybersecurity Nanodegree Program, Udacity aims to prepare highly-motivated learners for critical roles in advanced technical applications of Cybersecurity including AI, Data, and more. Graduates of this program will be uniquely positioned to significantly raise the security standards at their current organizations or find entirely new career opportunities in this field.

Commenting on the new Nanodegree program, Ishan Gupta, Managing Director – India, Udacity, said, “With quintillions, bytes of data generated every day, securing data and privacy of individuals and businesses is of utmost priority for every company. While the demand is increasing exponentially, there lies a huge skill-talent gap in Cybersecurity field. Together with industry experts in this domain, we are all set to address this pressing issue and train the next generation of Cybersecurity specialists. Our new Cybersecurity Nanodegree Program would be a job-ready program on cloud security emphasizing modern patterns and defence automation. Students will learn how to build powerful security solutions by leveraging the power of modern cloud services."

In the fast-paced, highly competitive job market, the right skills matter. Udacity’s commitment towards identifying new job areas and technology has been crucial. Early this year Udacity had announced their groundbreaking Flying Car Nanodegree Program to upskill students with autonomous flight technologies.  Udacity today counts more than ten million enrolled students across free and paid courses and has nearly 30,000 graduates of their groundbreaking Nanodegree programs, which are built in collaboration with global innovators like Google, Amazon, IBM, NVIDIA, Mercedez-Benz, and more.

With this Nanodegree program, Udacity extends their pioneering learning platform to the critical field of Cybersecurity.
