It offers more than 25,000 trip ideas across 100+ travel categories in 140 countries, transfer services at more than 2000 airports, hassle-free ticket bookings for amusements around the globe, local assistance with multi lingual support and all available for paying in INR.
We speak to the founder of TripXOXO, Henna J. Akhtar.
Why did you decide to set up shop in an already crowded local travel industry?
Today with online travel portals like Makemytrip, Airbnb and booking.com etc., travelers are provided with several attractive airfares and stay options. However, the actual experience is not given the much needed attention. The whole point of all this is the vacation, the end destination. Vacations are not the airlines we travel with, nor the hotels we check into, they are actually the memories we collect, places we explore, and moments we spend with ourselves and our dear ones.
Prior to TripXOXO, I had also cofounded Travelport, a travel agency for providing leisure and business travel solutions. This gave me insight into what the industry was missing. A portal that will give you ideas on how best to spend your vacation and do so at an affordable rate.
Describe TripXOXO to us
Founded in 2015, TripXOXO is an online go-to destination for Indian outbound travelers. The travel industry has evolved and Indians are seen to be travelling not just to visit different places, but to experience diverse cultures & cuisines. TripXOXO is a platform that enables travelers to engage in the experience of the travel destination and making the most out of their holidays.
How is TripXOXO different to all the other travel portals out there?
TripXOXO is not another run-of-the-mill travel portal. It offers more than 25,000 trip ideas across 100+ travel categories in 140 countries with an array of distinguished support to travelers such as transfer services at more than 2000 airports, hassle-free ticket bookings for amusements around the globe, local assistance with multi lingual support. We have also created the added comfort of paying in INR even for vacations outside India.
TripXOXO offers dining deals in more than 100 cities across the world, real time tickets to 300+ monuments, 5000+ tours for less than $10 and more than 150 free tours.
Tours like the Royal London Free Tour, Prague Free Tour and more than 150 are on the list, and all are free of cost. There are more than 300+ tours to monuments and heritage sights like the tours to Burj Khalifa, Dubai and Eiffel Tower, Paris. The tour tickets can be bought on the TripXOXO website in INR. Soon, the platform will also make public transport cards like Oyster card for London available to pre-buy in over 80 countries.
Focused on the Indian market, TripXOXO introduces Indian lunch and dinner vouchers across 300 Indian restaurants spread in 80 countries and constant additions are being made. The customers can also pre-buy their meals before departure.
Is the company funded?
TripXOXO is currently self-funded.
Revenue models include B2C sales, B2B2C sales through travel agents, corporate sales and partnerships with online companies, affiliates and ancillary travel sales. We have focused on the Indian market for now but we also plan to take TripXOXO to the UAE soon.
We get about 4000 site visits daily and served about 4 million customers so far.
Opportunities and future plans
TripXOXO is currently focused on the Indian market. People are more willing to travel nowadays thus creating a lucrative market for the travel industry. The company intends to make their mark in UAE from the second year (around 2017). B2B is a profitable channel too. The brand will continue to introduce new and innovative travel products in India and collaboratively market them to such corporate clients and partners.
And any other marketing plans to share?
The marketing plan includes further strategic alliances with online portals, travel content sites, wallet companies and other e-commerce players. We also plan to engage our customers though social media campaigns, events and through travel agent networks.
