Start-up Helping Firms To Invest In Social Capital

The Orglens platform is designed to help leaders make real-time decisions on Strategy, Execution, Organisation Structure, Succession planning, Engagement, Inclusion and Culture.

Orglens, a Delhi based startup is helping Organizations to understand their collective Social capital and leverage that for business advantage. The startup uses their technology platform to visualize and analyse the informal networks in organizations and create insights on Engagement, Culture, Inclusion, Collaboration and High Potential employees.

Most of the assessments and diagnostics in organisations are currently done without taking into account the informal organisation and the trusted relationships employees have. The Orglens platform is designed to help leaders make real-time decisions on Strategy, Execution, Organisation Structure, Succession planning, Engagement, Inclusion and Culture.

Orglens has already used Organisation Network Analysis for companies like PropTiger, Nestle, Tata Realty and Carrier Middya and plan to have 100 clients this year.

“The global shift to less hierarchical organizations has triggered a movement away from vertical command chains to horizontal lines of cooperation. At the same time, the rise of technology-enabled social media and sharing economy firms (e.g., Uber and Airbnb) have upended our traditional thinking about trust and reputation, both of which are essential in business. Trust and reputation are now grounded not in traditional institutions and brands but in the social networks around us. Living in a world of distributed authority and trust has implications that must be understood if we are to craft actionable strategies for ourselves as leaders and for the complex organizations we manage. OrgLen’s solution will empower organisations  to navigate this new world of distributed authority, trust, and reputation in a data-driven, rigorously analytical way.” Says Prof John Burrows PhD from University of Chicago who is in the advisory board of Orglens.

Orglens helps visualize the informal organisation, the interconnection and the hidden dimensions thus making it an important tool for any CEO and CHRO.

"If the formal structure is like the skeleton of an organisation, the informal networks are the central nervous system. Mapping these networks can give invaluable insights on an organisation’s ability to change, innovate and grow,” says Pramath Raj Sinha, Founder & Chairman, Harappa Education; also, Founder, ISB and Ashoka University. Pramath is also in the advisory board of Orglens.

While many organisations now want to increase the diversity and inclusion levels, the only way to understand inclusion is possibly an Organisation Network Analysis. See the diagram below.

Orglens currently generate reports on Engagement, Inclusion, Culture and Hi Potential employees by mapping the informal organisation. Clients are also using our tool to understand collaboration, execution and effectiveness of mergers and acquisitions he added.

This platform is being built for the last three years and the organisations went live in December 2019.
