The NRO (National Reconnaissance Office) Commercial Systems Program Office (CSPO) has granted a five-year contract to Pixxel, under the Strategic Commercial Enhancements Wide Agency Announcement for Commercial Hyperspectral Capabilities.
Pixxel will deliver technical hyperspectral imagery (HSI) remote sensing capabilities through modelling and simulation, as well as data analysis. Pixxel will show its capabilities through end-to-end tasking, collecting, and product dissemination, as well as respond to ad hoc product ordering and delivery requirements from the NRO and its partners, using its currently on-orbit pathfinder systems and future HSI constellations.
Pixxel Space Technologies CEO, Awais Ahmed, announced that “The entire team here at Pixxel is excited to begin this journey with the NRO. We are fully committed to this fantastic opportunity to offer our imaging capabilities to the organization, its partners, and the U.S. geospatial intelligence community.”
Pixxel's hyperspectral satellites gather images at hundreds of wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum, revealing critical information about our planet's health. Pixxel has had a historic year, launching three pathfinder missions into orbit and expanding its customer base in agriculture, mining, climate, oil and gas, government, and other industries. Pixxel's first publicly announced government customer, this partnership matches with growing public sector interest in climate monitoring tools.
