Mukesh Bansal, the Indian entrepreneur renowned for founding Myntra and presently serving as the CEO of curefit, has added his perspective to the ongoing discussion about the 70-hour work week.
Mukesh shared his thoughts via a LinkedIn post where he addressed several key aspects of this debate.
Mukesh said, "It is a personal choice; health is important, family is important, career is important, and peace of mind is important. People need to know what matters in what priority order and then choose accordingly."
He further added, "Companies demanding 70 hours/week need to also create proportional upside. You can't demand 70 hours of work at 40 hours salary. That's just not fair."
While acknowledging the value of extended work hours, he highlighted the importance of maintaining personal balance and well-being.
Mukesh also pointed out the significance of maximising productivity within each working hour rather than mindlessly extending the workday.
At the end of the post he said," One cannot deny that the world is moved forward by people who work hard but it should be a personal choice. We can't virtue signal or shame people into puttying in more hours."
This debate has garnered attention from all over the industry including Kunal Shah, Founder of CRED expressing his views on social media.
It underscores the ongoing discussion surrounding work-life balance and personal choice in the professional world.
