- Bengali, Oria, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu languages launched today - App is now available in 8 languages, aims to connect millions of Indians from tier 2 & 3 cities to digital payments - App can be downloaded by giving a missed call to 80971-80971 within 30 seconds

Enthused by the acceptability of language versions of its mobile app, Indian mobile wallet major MobiKwik today released five more language versions to further connect with millions of customers who want to transact via their hand-held devices. The app is now available in 8 languages; English, Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Oria, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.

The new language versions will be based on the app’s lighter variant MobiKwik LITE and can be downloaded with standard mobile internet connections by giving just one missed call.

Speaking about the launch, MobiKwik Co-Founder, Upasana Taku said, “Indians prefer conversing in their native languages than English. Following this insight, we have launched further regional versions of our app today in Bengali, Oria, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. We are certain that this move will further promote the adoption of digital wallet payments in rural India.”
MobiKwik powers digital wallet payments for major retailers such as Amul, Big Bazaar, Croma, Pantaloons and others. The company also offers payments at pan India toll plazas, IRCTC, major gas companies and petrol pumps across India.

Regional language users are expected to dominate the future growth of internet user base in India. Being a 1 mb app that works smoothly on EDGE connections, MobiKwik ‘LITE’ is addressing the underserved smartphone users in India, who face challenges of slow data connectivity and thus are unable to access digital payments easily. Users can download this app with just one missed call and sign up with their mobile number only, no email id required.

In times of note ban paralysing payments for the country, MobiKwik has taken many initiatives to ease the common man’s life. Since, the announcement of demonetisation that saw old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes cease to be legal tender, MobiKwik has registered 18-fold growth in transactions.

MobiKwik has also received the Bharat Bill Payment License, with which the company will be powering payments for all utility and convenience bills across India.
