Limetray Launches Tech Platform To Enable Local Grocery & Kirana Stores During COVID-19 Outbreak

Use of Limetray’s platform will be free for two months to help local stores tide over the challenges of Covid-19 outbreak. Current grocery and meat store clients witness multi-fold jump in online orders during last fortnight of March 2020

Limetray, India’s leading food-tech platform, is rolling out an online ordering system to enable local grocery, meat as well as local Kirana shops to accept customer orders online through its platform. The launch of this specialised technology platform will enable these local grocery, meat and Kirana stores to take orders from customers without the need to step into the stores to buy essential provisions, grocery and meat items in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak.

According to Akhilesh Bali, Founder & CEO of Limetray, “Our specialised technology platform is an easy to adopt and one of its kind solutions to help local grocery, meat and Kirana stores to maintain their order volumes by targeting customers online and offering safe contact-less delivery. We are offering the solution free of cost for the first two months of this fiscal to help local stores tide over the challenges of Covid-19 outbreak. We are targeting to onboard more than 1000 local grocery, meat and Kirana stores to use this platform across tier 1 cities across India.”

The specialised software suite is customised for use of local groceries, meat and Kirana stores. Limetray will also aid in increasing online visibility amidst reduced store visits and subsequent fall in overall customer footfalls in the wake of the current pandemic. The technology solution allows consumers in lockdown to place their orders for essential items online, complete the purchase through a payment gateway and helps the local stores to offer contactless delivery options wherein the purchased items are kept outside the door or as per the given instructions by the consumer.

Some of the regional grocery and meat players who have already adopted this platform witnessed multi-fold growth in their online orders during the second fortnight of March 2020 owing to the heavy reliance on online ordering of essential, grocery and meat items that are delivered to consumers’ homes in a safe contactless manner. Mumbai-based FnV Farms grocery seller witnessed its online orders doubling during this time. Similarly, meat stores like The Mumbai-based Bombay Meat Company and Noida-based Artisan Meats have witnessed over a five-fold rise in online orders in the second fortnight of March 2020 using Limetray’s technology platform.
