The auto-rickshaw services of Ola, Uber and Rapido are going to be shut in three days after the orders of the Karnataka Transport Department. The department calls these platforms providing auto ride service illegal. The call for illegal is on the basis of the ‘On-Demand Transport Technology Act 2016’.
According to the transport department, several commuters registered complaints with the department that Ola and Uber are charging a minimum of INR 100 even if the distance is below two kilometres. However, The minimum auto fare in Bengaluru is fixed at INR 30 for the first 2 kilometres and INR 15 for every other kilometre.
"The auto services should be discontinued and not charge passengers more than the fare prescribed by the government." stated a notice by the Karnataka state transport department.
