Google announced that 20 startups were founded or co-founded by women were selected from around 400 applications, for the inaugural cohort of ‘Google for startups Accelerator India women startups’ according to the media reports.
The media reports also mentioned that emphasis would be on access to networks, access to capital, hiring challenges, mentorship and many others, due to various challenges for female founders due to social reasons and low representation.
According to the statement, it will include workshops for women founders and co-founders. It will also provide support around AI/ML, cloud, UX, Android, Web, product strategy and growth and access to a global community of women founders.
It aims to improve the representation of women across different sections of India’s digitally-trained workforce like entrepreneurship, professionals, and young graduates seeking a head start on their careers.
