Chingari Raises $13 Million in New Round of Funding; Actor Salman Khan Joins its Cap Table

Chinagri came into existence last year after a ban on the ever-growing popular app TikTok and other China-linked/ Chinese origin utility and entertainment apps.

Chingari announced it has raised a whopping INR 94.25 crore/ $13 million in the latest round of financing. This round was led by OnMobile who have infused INR 31.86 crore, while two dozen other investors invested Rs 27.74 crore. This round also saw the entry of Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the firm’s cap table. The company allotted Rs 13.5 crore worth of shares to the actor for dividends other than cash to be its brand ambassador. His talent agency firm Uniworld Being Talented (UBT) has also received INR 1.5 crore of shares from the Bengaluru-based startup. In addition, Chingari recently tied up with a Mumbai-based content house, NH Studioz, to showcase Salman Khan’s films on the app.

Before this round of funding, Chingari had raised close to INR 11 crore in a seed round from Blume Founders Fund, Jasminder Gulati among other investors.
