A report on Friday revealed that OpenAI’s AI-powered chatbot ChatGPT is the fast fastest-growing app ever to hit 100 million users.
The revelation was made by UBS study based on Similarweb data. UBS analysts said that they could not recall a faster “ramp” in a consumer internet app.
ChatGPT has averaged 13 million daily unique visitors in January, according to study.
“In 20 years following the internet space, we cannot recall a faster ramp in a consumer internet app,” UBS analysts wrote.
ChatGPT has pipped apps such as TikTok and Instagram in the race to cross 100 million users in the fastest fashion.
The chatbot was launched for general public late November and has fast become popular globally.
ChatGPT’s stellar growth has also prompted Microsoft to reportedly invest an additional USD 10 billion into its creator OpenAI. The development has become a concern for other big tech players.
On Friday, Google struck a partnership with OpenAI rival Anthropic. It is believed that search engine giant has invested USD 300 million into the AI startup which was incidentally started by former OpenAI leaders in 2021.
Earlier this week, OpenAI launched its paid subscription ‘ChatGPT Plus’ for USD 20 in the US.
