The team behind Leaf Wearables, a Delhi based wearable technology brand, says they have sold more than 10,000 units of their first product, the SAFER Smart Pendant. Now the smart wearables startup has launched yet another innovative product - SAFER kids. It is designed to keep children safe and connected to parents. This colourful smartwatch with a GPS tracker and calling functionality is made for kids in the age group of 4 to 10 years.

With this device, kids can contact and receive calls from 7 pre-programmed numbers. Parents can use the SAFER Kids app to view the current location of the child. They can also set "Safer Zones" on maps in the app and receive notifications when the child enters or leaves this zone. Kids can send emergency alerts to their contacts through long press of the red button, in case they feel unsafe. Apart from the emergency features, parents can also monitor the physical activity (step tracking) of the child during the day and get insights about the same.

“Due to a hectic urban lifestyle, parents often have to leave their kids at the mercy of playschools, crèches or individual caretakers. While playing outside, they are vulnerable at places like playgrounds and parks. Recent gruesome instances of brutality towards children; make every parent worry about their child’s safety. Realizing this growing social hurdle we decided to launch SAFER Kids,” said Paras Batra, cofounder of Leaf Wearables.

The smartwatch comes with a long battery life comes and an in-built speaker and microphone, so that even games can be played on it. The watch is available in three colors on Amazon and on the company website. It is compatible with Android and iPhone, and priced at Rs. 4799.

Leaf Wearable is India's first company to come up with a concept of wearable technology for safety. For their innovation, they accompanied PM Modi as a part of his delegation to Silicon Valley as part of the top 10 innovators from India. The company has been founded by Avinash Bansal, Ayush Banka, Chiraag Kapil, Manik Mehta and Paras Batra. The founders all hail from IIT Delhi and Delhi Technological University.
