Nirmala Sithraman addressed a convocation event at the Indian Institute of Information and Technology, Design and Manufacturing on Saturday, According to the media reports, Finance Minister said, “Globally, I might be saying something which all of you might be already aware of, 58 top-notch company CEOs are Indian in origin. They are in 11 such companies which are multinational firms.”
Reports also mentioned that FM said, "58 India-educated CEOs are managing this scale of corporate sizes. But that does not mean that we don't have to work on our education system. We have to keep up the system to continue such feats. We are at a juncture to take India in a leap-frogging sense.”
Many Silicon Valley companies and startups are headed by Indians or Indian-origin people. Bhavesh Lal of General Atomics, Sundar Pichai of Google, Satya Nadella CEO of Microsoft and many more. In the Speech, she also mentioned that the Indian education system has produced many CEOs.
She mentioned the Standard and Poor list of top 500 companies and pointed out that Indian CEOs are just next to the USA
