There’s a virtual stampede for passes for the India Start-Up meet, to be organized in the National capital’s Vigyan Bhawan later this week on Jan 16.

The event would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

When Businessworld asked DIPP Secretary, Amitabh Kant, for a couple of more passes for the event, an exasperated Kant said: “There’s been a (virtual) riot for passes for the start-up meet. It’s not possible to entertain last-minute requests at all”.

The Modi government feels that its initiatives like “Start-up India” and “Stand-up India” have been huge draws, especially with Young India.

Speaking about the appeal of the “Start-up India”
Programme, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, speaking at Sunrise Andhra Pradesh Investment Summit in Visakhapatnam on Sunday noted: “I came to know through (Union Minister) Nirmala Sitharaman and Secretary Amitabh Kant that some 1.5 lakh people have requested to participate in the Vigyan Bhawan start-up event. The response as you can see is stupendous”.
