During the ongoing ICC World Cup Finale match between India and Australia on Sunday, quick-commerce platforms Zepto and Blinkit said that they were on course to record their highest daily sales, with a notable surge in orders for the Indian jersey.

Swiggy reported that pizzas and burgers dominated the most-ordered items on its food delivery platform throughout the day.

“We’re set to see our best day ever with between 4 to 5 lakh orders for the day. This will surpass our recently set record, during Diwali, where we saw just over 4 lakh orders,” Aadit Palicha, co-founder and chief executive at Zepto, posted on X (Formerly known as Twitter) during the course of the match.

With India at 197-5 with 10 overs to go for their innings, Palicha posted: “India’s religious side is starting to show! Sales of puja flowers are through the roof today compared to a regular Sunday. We thought it was because of Chhath Puja, but there’s been a major spike since the match started.”

Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Zomato-owned Blinkit, said he had observed an interesting pattern of orders during the day. “Order rate drops during an over & then shoots back up during the ads,” he wrote on X during the first half of the match.
