The global evidence shows that women have been performing exceedingly well in different spheres of life be it academics, politics, administration, social work, and so on. They have been able to prove their mettle as successful business owners as well and are running enterprises successfully.
BW Disrupt’s Women Entrepreneurship Summit & Awards (WESA) organized by BW Businessworld recognizes and celebrates exceptional women entrepreneurs whose innovative approach & clutter-breaking ideas have created positive changes in the business and social ecosystem in India. Women Entrepreneurs Summit and Awards 2021 showcased stories, lessons, and even failures that proved critical in growing up as entrepreneurs in current-day India.
Moving a step further from ‘empowerment’, the platform acknowledged women leaders & achievers who have opened up new opportunities for themselves & for others.
This year over 150 nominations were received across categories from the top women entrepreneurs of the country. The jury chair for WESA 2021 was Zia Mody, Founder & Managing Partner, AZB & Partners, and the Co-jury Chair was Samina Hamied, Executive Vice-Chairperson, Cipla.
Other eminent jury members were Naina Lal Kidwai, Chairman India Advisory Board, Advent Private Equity; Dr. Annurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-In-Chief, BW Businessworld & exchange4media; Anita Moorthy, Founder, and Host of The European Startup Show; Anu Aga, Director, Theriuyax, Padma Shri Awardee, MP- Rajya Sabha Member-National Advisory Council (GOI); Ashish Vidyarthi, Indian Film Actor & Motivational Speaker; Madhu Shalini Iyer, Partner Rocketship.vc; Kanika Tekriwal, Founder & CEO, Jetsetgo Aviation; Ankur Bansal, Co-Founder & Director, Blacksoil; Bhuvana Rai, Director, Drishya Education Scholarship Foundation and Chandra Sekhar Bhartia, Partner, Mazars India LLP.
The jury deliberated and discussed the shortlisted entries and final winners were felicitated in a virtual award ceremony which was preceded by a day-long summit engaging conversations with some of India’s greatest women entrepreneurs. Ram Mohan Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Women Child & Development graced the virtual summit and awards as the chief guest and felicitated the women entrepreneurs.
