On Thursday, the integrated financial services platform airpay stated that it has gone live on the Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC).
According to a press release, this will give airpay’s ‘vyaapaaris’ access to a variety of local businesses offering a variety of products and services to consumers via ONDC.
The initiative, said Kunal Jhunjhunwala, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala’s nephew, will enable ONDC to understand and implement key consumer and partner learnings.
Several companies, including Razorpay, Magicpin, and BigBasket, have recently joined the ecommerce network. Last month, PhonePe launched Pincode, its own ONDC-enabled app.
Thampy Koshy, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ONDC, said that with airpay’s assisted ecommerce model, it is one step closer to achieving this goal and is looking forward to bringing formal financial services to the unbanked population of the country.
