Kombai, an AI startup that helps developers convert UI designs into code, has raised USD 4.5 million in seed funding. The round was led by Stellaris Venture Partners and Foundation Capital, with participation from angel investors, including CTOs and executives from SaaS firms.

Kombai will use the funding to continue investing in research and development, with a focus on improving its base models, building compatibility with a wider range of libraries and frameworks, and enhancing the developer experience.

The startup was founded in April 2022 by Dipanjan Dey and Abhijit Bhole. It is headquartered in Palo Alto, California, but its core operations are based in Pune, India.

Kombai's platform uses deep learning and heuristic models to interpret UI designs and generate production-quality code. This helps developers save time and effort, freeing them up to focus on more creative and strategic tasks.

Kombai is currently in a public research preview, and the company is actively seeking feedback from the developer community.
