"We Plan to Have Around 20 Co-Working Spaces in the Next 5 Years" Says Piyush Panpalia, Founder, Workly

Workly gives a platform and opportunity to the Entrepreneurs and Startups to co-work and invent together. It established in the most prolific cities - Mumbai & New Delhi. In an interaction with BWDisrupt’s Sujata Sangwan, Piyush Panpalia, Founder, Workly, shares journey of his venture, unique key points and the future plans of the company.

Initial Days

When asked about the initial days, Piyush said, "We started working on a different platform which was into aggregation of short term retail spaces, in order to materialize the plan we started working from different coworking spaces and realized that there is dearth of good coworking spaces with a true intent of “coworking” and at the same time providing good facilities at reasonable prices. That is how we came out with Workly."

Business Model

Workly takes the most prolific locations in the city that are easily accessible through public transport and furnish it as per its standards and thereby provide plug n play offices to startups and SME’s.

About Space & Services

The Lajpat Nagar space (New Delhi) is of 2200 sq. ft. while the Nariman Point location (Mumbai) is 1100 sq. ft. Workly provides various facilities to all its members like High Speed internet; Unlimited Tea & Coffee; Conference Room with LED TV; Printer/Scanner; Storage Space; Courier Service; CCTV Cameras; Biometric System for access and attendance; and also makes tie-ups with multiple companies that will help the members move forward with their business initiatives.

Target Group

Workly’s target group is majorly startups, freelancers and SMEs. The startup is reaching them through Digital Marketing, PR activities and conducting various events to help the startup ecosystem.

Funding & Future Plans

Workly is bootstrapped as of now. In the next 1 year the firm is planning to open 3 more co-working spaces in Mumbai, Noida and Gurgaon. The 5 year plan is to have presence in all metros and have around 20 co-working spaces. It is planning to raise funds once it stabilize its operations after opening up the next 3 offices.

Expansion

Expansion is necessary to realize the dream of connecting people from different walks of life and experience wherein people learn and grow together. For expansion Workly is looking at places which are in the most prolific locations of the city and easily accessible by public transport.

Future Goals

The ultimate goal is to have pan India presence in the next 5 years with a member community working out of Workly of at least 2000+. It plans to have around 20 co-working spaces in the next 5 years. The startup is also working on a mobile app which connects everyone within the Workly fraternity to each other and also building an intranet within the organization for members.

Market size & Opportunity

Co-working as an industry primarily caters to start-ups, freelancers and SMEs. Workly expects India to have around 11,500 start-ups by 2020 and that translates into nothing less than a lac people scouting for office spaces. India has the second biggest freelancing community of around 15 million which is a big market in itself. Plus SMEs also is a big target group for such spaces. As of now the industry is un-organised and no single player is there on a Pan India basis thus giving room for many players to lead and establish themselves.
