March 01, 2021: Wat-a-Burger, the chain of dynamic burger joints in India, is planning to accelerate its expansion in Maharashtra and Karnataka as a part of its FY21-22 plan. It aims at opening 40 new outlets by the end of financial year 2022, most of which will be targeted for Bihar, Telangana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
Wat-a-Burger already has outlets across- 16 cities and 9 states in India with presence in all the major locations including - Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Surat, Panchkula, Guwahati, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Gorakhpur, Faridabad, Ranchi, Jhansi etc. The burger chain tightened its grip in Delhi NCR with over 31 outlets. It plans to widen its footprint in Maharashtra and Karnataka in the same manner.
“The pandemic has definitely hit the restaurant industry. Amidst this the states that had maximum number of restaurants and cafes also saw most of them shutting down, Karnataka and Maharashtra being two of them. These two are also the states that warmly accepted QSR culture in the first place. Now, there is a little void after pandemic in the F&B market in these states. Hence, post pandemic we see a huge scope in these states,” said Mr. Farman Beig- CO-Founder and CEO, Wat-a-Burger.
Due to lockdown the brand had to shut down its outlets just like all other businesses in line with the government guidelines. The brand resumed its operations according to the government notification gradually.
In last 3 months, the brand has seen a 3x increase in the number of inquiries for Wat-a-Burger franchisee. The brand aims at creating new entrepreneurs in tier2 and tier 3 cities through the franchisee model.
