WRMS To Provide Data Acquisition And Maintenance Of Automatic Weather Stations To APSDPS

Weather Risk Management Services Pvt. Ltd. (WRMS) recently announced that it will be providing Real-Time Data Acquisition and Maintenance of Automatic Weather Stations to Andhra Pradesh State Development Planning Society (APSDPS). The six-year project includes the design, supply, installation, operation, real-time data acquisition and maintenance of 430 Automatic Weather Stations in 13 Districts of Andhra Pradesh. 

The Comprehensive Agricultural Risk Management Solution by WRMS that leverages data, and technology to develop risk management solutions, has been instrumental in securing this project. WRMS’s expertise in the domain will aid APSDPS in maintaining 430 additional units of Automatic weather stations required as per the guidelines of Ministry of Agriculture norms, Government of India, 2015 to ensure that weather stations lead to reasonable reduction in risks. The real-time weather parameters data provided by WRMS will enable APSDPS in serving this objective.

APSDPS, Planning Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh has established weather gauging networks across the state. The sensor data is being used by various Government agencies such as the Agriculture Department, A.P. State Disaster Management Authority, RTGS, Water Resources Department, etc. for proper planning and implementation of respective sectoral applications and varied Government programs and schemes. AWS data is also being used by agencies implementing crop insurance schemes for the implementation of Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) for various crops in the districts and various research organizations.
