Venture Catalysts Incubated Startups Selected for Venture Gurukool and IGAIN China Investor Roadshow 2017
A unique start-up event, the China Investor Roadshow 2017 is organised by IGAIN and Venture Gurukool in collaboration with the Startup India Association.
In a major development, four start-ups incubated under Venture Catalysts, India’s first integrated incubator have been selected to be showcased at the Venture Gurukool and IGAIN China Investor Roadshow 2017. Scheduled between November 7 and November 10, 2017, in Beijing and Shenzhen, the four-day event will see CoutLoot, Flickstree, Genext Students, and Orbo.ai make their pitches in front of potential investors from China. The VCats portfolio companies will be amongst the 200 start-ups expected to participate at the grand event, which will also feature 16 other start-ups from India.
The achievement marks a significant landmark for Venture Catalysts, which has been working towards boosting the innovation quotient in India through its differentiated incubation approach. VCats has established itself as a game-changer in the Indian entrepreneurial landscape by facilitating start-up development across multiple geographies, supported by an entire ecosystem of catalysts, angel investors, management consultants, and advisors. Moreover, it facilitates mentoring and seed funding opportunities through angel investments and support services for the start-up community, helping highly disruptive, early stage ventures in realising their full business potential.
Speaking on the participation, Dr. Apoorv Ranjan Sharma, Cofounder & President, Venture Catalysts, said, “Given the spectacular growth that India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem has witnessed over the past decade, several leading investors from across the globe are eyeing the massive business potential that it represents. Chinese investors, in particular, have demonstrated significant interest in exploring investment opportunities in India in the recent past, which is what makes this roadshow organised by Venture Gurukool and IGAIN such an exciting opportunity for participating ventures. We are delighted that four start-ups incubated under VCats will feature at this promising event and are confident that they will attract investor attention thanks to their unique value proposition.”
Start-ups participating in the China Investor Roadshow 2017 have been handpicked from a large pool of applicants. Ventures are analysed on the experience and track-record of their founding teams, their revenue models, and the product’s robustness and market acceptance. One of the most important selection parameters a start-up is judged on is its investor profile, something which automatically gives a significant competitive edge to start-ups incubated under VCats.
Ms. Ntasha, Cofounder – Venture Gurukool, added, “The Chinese start-up ecosystem is the perfect example of how the entrepreneurial energies of a developing economy can be harnessed to drive economic growth and innovation. This event is a good opportunity for Indian start-ups to not only seek foreign investment, but also to learn from the experiences of successful Chinese entrepreneurs. We are confident that this event will provide a much sought-after platform to emerging start-ups from India and will help them in securing investment and mentorship opportunities as well as international exposure that can help in driving their growth.”
Commenting on VCats' contribution, Saurabh Singh (Co-Founder, Flickstree) - "Beyond capital, a startup also needs the right set of advisers, network and connections to scale up rapidly. In this regard, the network and board members of Venture Catalysts have been instrumental in helping our company establish a brilliant product market fit, and also helped us in partnering with other players in the ecosystem to grow fast".
Elaborating on its association with VCats, Jasmeet Thind (Co-founder Coutloot) "VCats and Dr Apoorv have really played an influential role in building Coutloot from the ground up! From their continued mentoring to providing us with great networking opportunities, VCats has been a great pillar of support. We look forward to its continued guidance as we move to the next phase of building and leading fashion re-commerce in India!"
