Under-graduate Students from Pune Selected Under “Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA)”

The local rounds for the GSEA, organized by the Entrepreneurs’ Organization & hosted by Mr. Badal Saboo (Pune GSEA Chair), was successfully conducted at YASHADA, Baner, with 11 students competing from colleges across Maharashtra.

Saurabh Mangulkar (Business name - EventBeep) and Mitesh Rasal (Business name - Rut3), both Under-graduate students from Pune engineering colleges have qualified to attend the global finals of GLOBAL STUDENT ENTREPRENEUR AWARDS (GSEA) for a chance to win the prize valuing at US $400,000 in 2018.

The local rounds for the GSEA, organized by the Entrepreneurs’ Organization & hosted by Mr. Badal Saboo (Pune GSEA Chair), was successfully conducted at YASHADA, Baner, with 11 students competing from colleges across Maharashtra. In order to qualify for this global contest, an individual had to be an under-graduate student and the owner of a for profit/social enterprise structured (revenue generating) business that has operated for at least six consecutive months.

“We received applications from all over Maharashtra and it has been inspiring to sit through the presentations of the contestants whose business look beyond just generating profits to bringing social impact within their communities,” said Mr. Badal Saboo.

The winner, Saurabh Mangulkar, studying in Junior College founded EventBeep in January 2017. EventBeep is a College event ticketing platform through which college students can find, register & attend all the events of their interests.

The 1st Runners-up, Mitesh Rasal, a student of Engineering, founded RUT3 in July 2016, a company for designing and manufacturing the new generation suspension wheels. This Innovation was created for making rides safer, eradicating problems such as chain slippage, reduced transmission efficiency, increasing overall efficiency and providing a great comfort at a cheaper cost than conventional systems with least maintenance.

“I am very happy for the winners and sure that they will be tough competitors in the global arena thus making our city proud by representing us. My best wishes are with them”, added Mr. Chetan Wakalkar, Executive Director, Indira Group of Institutes.

Another highlight of the event was Mr. Sachin Karnik, President - Mumbai Angels, selecting the top 5 applicants thus providing them a much-needed platform to present their business ideas to an extensive network of Investor’s and successful Entrepreneurs who would be providing support in terms of mentorship as well as funding.
