TiE Chennai Organizes Session on “Goods and Services Tax”

The tax collection framework in India has been unpredictable. Be it for new business or startups, it winds up noticeably difficult to explore through various direct and indirect taxes. But now, the things are set to change with new Goods and services tax– commonly known as GST – was the subject of a special session organised by TiE Chennai recently in the city for new age entrepreneurs.  

The discussion was moderated by Mr. Maran Nagarajan, Chairman & CEO, KAAR Technologies along with the GST experts Mr. R Venkatakrishnan, Founder & Partner, RVK Associates and Mr. G Sekar, Founder Partner, G Sekar Associates.    

The Session gave budding entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn and develop knowledge on GST. The panel discussed briefly on how to prepare for GST, Implication of GST in the business, and also discussed on the impacts of GST on startups and future taxation system post the implication of Goods and services tax.

Commenting on the session, Mr. R. Narayanan, President, TiE Chennai, said, “With the GST regime expected to roll out from July 1, everyone in the industry, be they entrepreneurs or customer related services, seemed concerned about the accounting system. Hence, we at TiE Chennai had arranged for a special session on GST. Thanks to our panelist who have aptly captured the basics of GST and illustrated how they will have to adopt and adapt to GST rules. We are certain that this session has propagated the same amidst our audience”.

The session is designed to provide a forum for budding entrepreneurs and will give them the opportunity to meet and discuss trends in the industries as well as networking with each other. TiE Chennai will be bringing together prominent entrepreneurs from the various industry, venture capitalists, analysts and senior executives to share their thoughts and insights with upcoming entrepreneurs at regular meetings throughout the year.
