Wondering what to do with your life? Get inspired. The BW annual fete honouring the hard work of our young entrepreneurs is a must-watch if you’re looking for inspiration this weekend.
What’s in store
The wise words shared by the eclectic mix of guests like 2016s biggest angel investor, Dheeraj Jain or the wildly successful Truecaller’s cofounder Nami Zarringhalam will leave you all the more wiser if the discussion on, “when should you get married? Or should you get married at all?” doesn’t leave you entertained. And there was the team trying to build a rocket to the moon sharing their journey too.
The fashion statement maker and Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal was his flamboyant self. His statement, “GDP may increase by 2 per cent because of demonetization,” was the eye opener of the event.
Bringing in women power was Saroja Yeramilli, the founder of funky and workable jewellery label, Melorra. When she asked for only 2 million dollars, she got 5 million dollars from investors. The powerhouse woman’s statement, “let’s stop blaming the men for everything. Women should become go getters too,” was another crowd favourite.
Don’t forget the winners
Hundreds were considered but only ten made the cut. The Businessworld Young Entrepreneur Awards show featured a startup giving posh hotels a serious run for their money. Then there was the furniture rental startup selected to Google’s mentorship program in Silicon Valley (the founder will be moving to California for a while), and don’t forget the fintech startup that has 400 per cent growth and over 40 million dollars from some pretty big investors.
There’s more that happened. The show lights up on NewsX this Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.
