When parent put their little one at a daycare or a pre-school there is always an excitement of knowing what their little one would be doing inside.

- How are they learning?
- Are they crying?
- What time they slept and get up?
- What is it like to see them draw their first drawing on paper?
- How awesome is it to receive a message from teacher/school reminding about the next important meeting?
- Are the diapers of your little one about to finish, don't worry, teacher will inform you in private message.


These are the most common pointers from the parents that can be seen. PreBOO is a mobile app which will solve these issues and make the communication between parents and daycares/pre-schools easy, fun and real-time. The startup was founded by Kushal Trivedi (Founder) and Sweta Trivedi (CoFounder). They are also helped by one of their friend who is a part of core team now Jaydeep Hurra (Business Head).

In an exclusive interaction with Sujata Sangwan of BWDisrupt, Kushal Trivedi, Founder, PreBOO, shares details about his startup.

Idea Generation


I and Sweta are husband and wife for 6 years now. She is a programmer with more than 6 years of experience and I'm a marketer with more than 8 years of experience in the space. We have started this venture in the month of June, when we were not happy with the kind of response we got from the teacher and the preschool where we have enrolled our daughter. So we decided to work on solution which at least eases the simple and most common communication that happens with majority of the parent.

When we enrolled our daughter to a preschool, it was first time for us 3. We as a working parent were not able to get satisfactory answers from the teacher to our queries which were very simple in nature and we were not alone, we found majority of parent that were with us were facing the same problem. So we both started working on finding a solution which is yet not present anywhere at the preschool level, in most part of India. And so PreBOO was born.

Unique Key Features/Services

We are not offering a school management solution; we are focused on helping teachers communicate with parents in real time. It is more focused on making communication more personalized and easy.

Competition & Differentiation


For this particular segment there is no direct competitor, there are few players like Flinnt & SkoolKonnect. But there is a lot of ground that needs to be covered. Since the preschool and daycare segment is majorly untapped market in India we have understood the scope of it and thus want to make the most of it.

Funding Status

Currently we are bootstrapped. We are looking for angel/seed funding.

Monetization Model

Currently we are not charging anything. We want to create a big user database.

Traction Details

At the moment we have got 5 preschool that has signed Letter of Intent which states that they will allow us to demo the product to their teaching staff and if they like it then they will use it FREE for one year from the date they associate with us. We are going to do soft launch by the August, 2016 end with these 5 preschool. Once we are rolled out with them properly then we will expand.

Future Plans

We want to cover all preschool/daycares in other big metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Banglore, Pune & Chennai. And then we will increase our offerings.

Marketing Plans


Currently we are bootstrapped, and thus we are individually visiting preschool to pitch the idea. We need to expand our business development team to take the work forward aggressively. As this is something which needs person to person explanation so we are more focused on traditional approach of marketing.

Challenges Faced

Some of traditional schools having Nursery and preschool classes are hesitant to use it, claiming that it is against their school's ideology. Some of the other new private preschools are also hesitant to use claiming that they do not allow teachers to use mobile during the school's working hours. So it takes a lot of back and forth and explanation to reach to a point where they agree to sign a Letter of Intent to show the demo when we are ready.

Market Size & Opportunity

The Indian education industry is on a brisk growth track. The industry has witnessed significant developments and investments in the past five years, owing to which its market size reached USD 50 billion in 2011. Experts believe that the sector will surge to USD 200 billion by 2017, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 25.99 percent. The Indian education sector currently enrolls around 450 million students and its estimated growth rate over the next decade is in the range of 10 percent to 15 percent.
