Portea Medical, India’s largest outside-of-hospital consumer healthcare brand, announced its collaboration with Capgemini in India, to provide various healthcare services during the pandemic.

Under this relationship, Capgemini is ensuring that its employees who are either exposed to COVID and need testing, or have tested positive, receive the home care services offered by Portea. The highlight of this initiative is that Capgemini is covering the medical cost of the home care for both its employees and their dependents for 10 days isolation and additional 7 days extension if there is prevalence of further symptoms. The COVID-19 isolation at home special package for Capgemini includes doctor tele consultation, follow-up calls, nutrition consultation and planning, and more.

In addition to this ‘at home special package’, Capgemini employees can choose to avail additional services on a pay-per-use basis that include renting or buying medical equipment, nurse or doctor visits, investigations and other home care services through the end of the year.

As India’s largest home healthcare player, Portea has been delivering consistent, high-quality patient care in various parts of the country. The company has catered to over 1.5 million patients in their home environment offering an extensive range of services for chronic diseases, elderly care, post-surgery care, diabetes management, chemotherapy at home, and other diseases or injuries requiring long-term care.

Under Portea’s Home Isolation Programme with state governments, 50,000 patients have been monitored, and over 45,000 patients have been successfully discharged with less than 3% shifted to hospitals from home isolation. Portea has been experiencing a 97% recovery rate at home and has also done over 15,000 doctor consultations for patients in the last few months.

Speaking about this, Meena Ganesh, MD and CEO, Portea Medical, said, “We appreciate this employee-friendly initiative undertaken by Capgemini. It reinforces their commitment towards their employees at a time when the pandemic has led to many uncertainties around health and other aspects. Although it is an outcome of the pandemic, the initiative will stay relevant in the times to come since work-from-home is the new normal and makes it difficult for employees to discuss their health concerns and worries. With Portea Medical’s vast experience in handling home isolation cases as well as other health conditions, we are sure of providing the best services to Capgemini’s employees and extended family.”

Commenting on this relationship, Venkat Neelakantan, VP and Regional Head of Corporate Real Estate Services APAC, Capgemini, said, “At Capgemini, our employees are at the heart of all that we do. We are pleased to work with Portea Medical to enable home medical assistance, so that our colleagues and their dependent family members get good quality healthcare during the pandemic. With this relationship, we further strengthen our commitment to maintaining the health, safety and security of our team members.”

Portea Medical has been undertaking various initiatives during the COVID-19 crisis. The company launched a chatbot in association with the Government of Goa to answer people’s queries around the pandemic. Portea recently also launched an integrated solution called the Portea Covid Armour. The initiative that is categorised into the Covid Personal Protection Plan and the Covid Community Plan aims to help reduce the pressure on the overburdened healthcare facilities due to rising coronavirus cases in the country.
