Online furniture company, Pepperfry.com, has announced the launch of Cash on Delivery (COD) service for consumers in Mumbai and Delhi NCR ahead of the upcoming festive season. The online marketplace is the first company to introduce COD to customers of up to ₹ 50,000 on a high-ticket purchase like furniture at no additional cost as an introductory offer.
Consumers can avail the COD option on various product categories on Pepperfry.com. Through this introduction, Pepperfry is making high-value furniture products accessible to consumers, which is in line with its core promise of providing a seamless and hassle-free shopping experience. Pepperfry is targeting 1 million customer transactions in the next three months through the new COD service until the conclusion of the festive season, which is one of the key buying season for furniture shoppers.
Pepperfry has observed that the Indian consumer market is largely fragmented and there are several sections of consumers who are more comfortable with cash payments, especially when it comes to a large ticket purchases like furniture. Through the COD payment option, Pepperfry hopes to reach a more diverse demographic consumer set and secure market trust by making large ticket products like furniture accessible via payment on delivery.
The COD service is also available on the Pepperfry mobile site and App, and the company is confident that the new payment option will further enhance the consumer shopping experience. Additionally, there are some cases where consumers have a low credit limit on debit and credit cards, a COD option will enable these consumers to make their furniture purchase with ease.
As Pepperfry amplifies its omni-channel network across the country through the Studios that contribute 25-30%, a higher limit of COD will aid in providing additional convenience in making a high-ticket purchase. Traditionally consumers have been paying upfront for their furniture purchase, now they can visit Pepperfry Studios located across Lower Parel, Santacruz, Thane, Vashi, South Extension part II, Kirti Nagar, Punjabi Bagh Gurugram, Noida, Indirapuram, to avail the design consultancy services, experience Pepperfry furniture and Décor products and place their order online with an option to pay in cash at the time of delivery.
