Brief us about your business model like how did the idea came to start and how does it work (step by step procedure)?
We decided to work on a No-Code platform primarily because the lack of skilled programmers in the workforce is causing a delay of progression/digitization in businesses and the only solution to this problem is that non programmer employees should be utilizing no-code platforms like Appy Pie to bring much needed rapid application development potential.
The idea behind Appy Pie is to democratize application development by empowering anyone to build digital products that meet their needs, and we are working on that path. Today we have a bouquet of no code products namely, App Maker, website builder, automation builder, chatbot builder and design.
Any user can build an app by undergoing as little as three easy steps. All they need to do is enter their name, add the features they want and then just publish the app. Once done, the app will be ready to function.
What are the unique key points of your company?
Appy Pie provides scalable business solutions, with the intent of leveling the playfield for startups, entrepreneurs, and small businesses. The idea is – to make sure that cutting edge technology is readily available and accessible to all businesses including those who have strict timelines and limited budgets. Irrespective of the size of a business, anyone can simply create an account, log in, and start developing websites, designs, chatbots and other applications without learning to code. This eventually leads businesses to have a 360 degree digital footprint in the market.
Furthermore, we offer a comprehensive no-coding solution in multiple languages, thereby making the process easier for businesses irrespective of geographical boundaries and constraints. This has proven to be particularly useful for businesses who plan to assert a strong presence in the international market.
How are you different from the existing competitors?
People into varied businesses come to us for tech-powered solutions. Our first objective is to understand the need of each business and then recommend a customized solution for one and all. Instead of focusing on any one aspect, we offer a complete portfolio of no-code business solutions. The options that we provide are flexible, affordable and in accordance with the need of each business. This isn’t something that’s readily available in the market.

We are 100% bootstrapped organization till date. Our revenue comes through a subscription-based model. For instance, if we develop an app for a customer, they do not need to bother about its maintenance and development cost as long as their subscription is active. We take it upon ourselves to not just maintain but also keep the application updated as per the latest technological advancements. Any individual or corporate can utilize our services as per their need and convenience.
Appy Pie offers multiple affordable plans in monthly or yearly formats, which gives plenty of options to businesses of all scale, size, and scope.
What challenges are you facing in running your business?
Challenges are mostly awareness and acceptability related. We are present in nearly every continent across 14 different locations and time zones. The challenges are different for every business market. Therefore, we need to tweak our operations in accordance with the varying requirements.
For instance, if I talk about India, then there is not enough awareness and understanding about the concept of no code solutions. Many businesses do not have clarity on how no code solutions can enhance their operations and growth, so the first challenge is to acquaint them with the information and concept. On most occasions, we need to start by instilling the belief that whether or not you know any coding, you can still create an app or a chatbot to establish better interactivity and connectivity with your consumers.
How has been the people`s response been so far?
As mentioned earlier, the concept of no code in India is fairly new. Businesses and individuals are yet to realize the potential, benefits and the positive impact of No Code app development on their growth and operations. No Code development is a catalyst to ignite the wave of entrepreneurship in India, which would eventually support the idea of a self-reliant India or Atmanirbhar Bharat. Lest we forget, Indian businesses and entrepreneurs do not lack potential, all they need is a helping hand that can empower them digitally and our constant endeavor is to make this possible.
However, in the US market the response has been quite positive. Not only do we get a steady growth in the number of new subscriptions, but we enjoy a pretty impressive customer retention rate as well.
What are the traction details (like users, app downloads & other achievements of the company)?
As of now, Appy Pie has as many as 7 million businesses as clients. Besides, our own Appy Pie App Builder App has already crossed one million app downloads on Google Play Store. Recently, we bagged a prestigious award for being the leading no-code platform. Appy Pie delivers enterprise-class security and compliance to customers through every interaction. The platform is highly rated by thousands of customers from all over the world. Also, the high rating given by our consumers further manifests the satisfaction they get by associating with us.
How do you look at expansion?
We are in the middle of a very exciting phase in the company, where Appy Pie recently acquired AppMakr, a reputable name in no code app building. The company also acquired Infinite Monkeys. Notably, Appy Pie and AppMakr had been competing for the top slot in the segment for several years before joining forces.
In addition to this, we recently launched some intriguing products that have been received quite well by our beta users. These include Appy Pie Chatbot, Appy Pie Live Chat, Appy Pie Design, and Appy Pie Knowledge.
What are your marketing plans?
We are focusing mostly on digital where 95% of our traffic is organic and we also spend some marketing dollars on Google and Facebook ads.Over the last six months we have also been experimenting with TV advertising as well.
What has been the biggest learning so far?
Our biggest learning has been that any software being developed must be very simple as the process should be as smooth as possible. People have ideas but not the technical prowess to transform them into reality. All they need is a platform that understands their ideas and provides technical solutions to the associated challenges, even to those who do not understand technical nuances. Hence, all businesses need a platform that allows DIY tools to build a product with ease from the comfort of one’s home/office.
What is the market size and opportunity?
As per Gartner, no-code application development will be responsible for more than 65% of application development activity by 2024.It is most certain that no-code application development platforms will continue to rise, for they ensure fast and creative tech-powered solutions to businesses.
