The English language learning app by the Hindi focused startup has successfully crossed the 1 Million downloads milestone with highly positive reviews on the Play Store.
Namaste English, an app designed by HinKhoj, has recently crossed the 1 Million+ downloads margin. This is no surprise, given the variety of features the app has, such as full offline support, complete grammar lessons, complete English spoken practice lessons and conversations, fun learning game, as well as daily learning features.
Launching the Namaste English only recently in 2016, HinKhoj has been able to generate a considerably positive response from the audience within a short time period. Hindi English dictionary application by HinKhoj is already very popular on playstore. The dictionary offers English to Hindi and Hindi to English translations alongside offline mode. In short, with more than 5 lakh English and Hindi words having detailed definitions, synonyms, and antonyms provided with usage and example sentences as well as pronunciations, both Hindi and English become significantly easy to learn.
According to Kumar Asheshanand (Director, Business at Hinkhoj), “The app was started as a hobby with a sole motive of building a platform that can help various Hindi speaking people learn language and build vocabulary with the use of technology.”
Ever since its launch, HinKhoj has grown tremendously and as of now the English Hindi Dictionary mobile application is on top position in books and reference category of Google Playstore in India with more than 14 million downloads till date.
“People from different backgrounds face different types of difficulties in the process of learning English and Hindi,” said Kumar. “They commit specific mistakes in learning pronunciations, grammar, spellings, meanings and usages. The problem becomes more complicated for rural and small town students for whom good quality coaching and guidance is not easily available.” He pointed out that this is the problem which HinKhoj is trying to solve by providing easy to use and interactive content for language learners on their mobile phone itself.
Needless to say, this application is helping users in learning English and Hindi both. It is available on all platforms including Android, Windows, iOS and Tizen. Users can also visit HinKhoj website which have similar functionality and this website has been visited by 200 Million+ users across the world.
“We are able to acquire users in such a large number because we are solving problems faced by mass population of the country.” Kumar also explained that they are living in a society where majority of population is not able to read the instructions on medicine, packaged food items and documents on internet. The language problem is becoming more acute because India’s rapidly growing technologically advanced economy demands a large number of students to pursue professional, technical and academic programmes which clearly require appropriate knowledge of the target language- English. HinKhoj has certainly provided a much needed solution to the growing language problems of the country.
"With a vision of promoting Hindi across the world and helping Hindi users in all possible ways by removing language barrier, we are continuously working on various new initiatives to make our products more useful for our users," Kumar added.
