Gurugram-based tech firm BITCS's short video platform Changa is emerging as the new desi destination for creators who earlier used global apps such as TikTok, which have been banned by the Indian government.
The ban on the apps has led to a spurt in the number of made-in-India short video apps, but there are very few that have managed to strike the chord with the users, especially those who had already found their virtual retreat in the likes of TikTok. The all-new ‘Made in India’ app, Changa, has climbed the popularity chart swiftly and significantly.
Within the first three days of its launch, Changa app recorded more than 10,000 downloads and within a short span, it crossed the 3-million download mark, securing a rating of 4.5. A major reason behind the success of Changa app is its striking similarity to TikTok, resulting in a number of Indian TikTokers finding a new desi adda.
A first in the segment, the app gives former TikTok users an option to import their best videos from the globally successful short video platform. Users can import as many as 5000 videos and a minimum of 100 videos, depending upon their fan base and the frequency of using Changa app. Remember, it’s not just about importing old videos, in fact it’s more about recovering the reward for your hard work and emotions that were put in.
The other striking feature of the app is that it gives the option to share the videos directly on instant messaging app WhatsApp and other social media platforms. The 15-second-long videos can also be used for displaying WhatsApp status. The platform provides an easy and seamless interface for users to create, edit, and share their videos.
The force behind the success of Changa app is Shubham Aggarwal, the man who worked in multinationals like Microsoft and Amazon before starting his own firm BITCS in Gurugram. Referring to the app’s successful launch, he said, “Our app has clicked with the short video creators’ community because of a clean and easy-to-access user interface. Also, there were many creators who showcased their talents on apps such as TikTok and made a career out of it, and now with Changa, they have a chance to recover the lost ground.”
On Changa, users can create and browse through a library of top videos from across the globe. The team has further announced that the app’s next update will usher in new features, filters and special effects to enhance the video making experience. Besides, the short video platform by BITCS is a true ambassador of ‘Make in India’ and ‘vocal for local’.
