As the second edition of SuperStartUps gets underway, there is a feeling of anticipation in the air. Not only because this program made headlines during its inaugural phase last year, but also because many of last years winners such as Shopclues, Bluestone, HouseJoy, Innov8, PropTiger, and Byju’s went on to appear in the news as well.
The reason that SuperStartUps made such waves last year was due to its innovative approach to selection. They fully embraced the idea of democratic public response. The winners of this program are not selected by a panel of judges, or even by an arbitrary body, but rather by the people of India and its neighbours. Over a 1000 citizens from across 22 cities are weighing in with their thoughts and opinions on which startup deserves recognition.
Asia is the startup hub of the world. While there exist veritable giants in the field, it is the smaller players in this burgeoning ecosystem that are showcasing truly groundbreaking ideas. It is these entities that SuperStartUps Asia wish to bring into the limelight. Through the use of their unique democratic process they are seeking out the apps and startups that the people of this region consider indispensable and worthy of the title.
Comments Shivjeet Kullar council leader of SuperStartUps Asia “This year the response from voters across Asia has been terrific. We’re getting participation from all over India as well as neighboring countries.”
