You may be good at auditing or finance but unless you have a degree stating your specialisation in auditing, you are so not welcome. Flocking skills is exactly not what they do at MNC. Your degree matters.

Startups and MNCs have their own bubble which is almost mutually exclusive. Ranging from their operations to their profits everything differs. And so we can easily infer that MNCS do differ from startup and there are a bunch of things that MNC do not entertain. There are a couple of things that MNc want you to grow from! No not the couch or the beanie or the infra, but the ethics, the conduct and the environment.

Startups are the venture that takes their steps with utmost caution and promote a culture that promotes agility and steps to cautiousness where a lot is yet to be achieved.

Multinationals are worldwide operating firms that have their laid down benchmarks for quality performance and work standard where a lot has already been achieved .They are the firms with minimal flexibility and maximum results.

Working with a startup may mean having fun along with work where you can discuss, interfere and sneak into your colleague's work whereas when you are enrolled with an MNC, you need to be disciplined and focused on your work with minimal divert of focus. Knowing what your “BAJUWALA” is doing is just not MNC thing.

There’s no room for the generalist in a multinational. You need to be extraordinarily well versed with the job you wish to specialises in.  Being good at everything and excellent at nothing is the startup thing and such people aren’t welcomed at MNCs.

And then comes the excuses and absence. At any newly started venture, you can take a day off without any formalities or procedures and but as an MNC worker, excuses aren’t meant for you, you need to furnish a specified format application with your subject matter of leave, and hello? With a proper citation in MLA format!

There’s a proper furnished hierarchical structure for an MNC, going against which may get you fired. An employee has to report to supervisor and supervisor to the team leader. No ifs no buts. They cannot tolerate any conflicts with their positions or responsibilities whatsoever. Working with an MNC may be cumbersome but that is how it works, that is how the targets are achieved.

MNCs do have a boss where it is he, to whom all are accountable unlike startups where whom to report, whom to assign is all ambiguous. Such environment is created in MNC because they cannot tolerate any violations or opposition. It’s the well-defined system of accountability and responsibility that strives them to successful and contribute significantly.

All the dudes and divas of startups are ladies and gentlemen at MNC. Because as a part of globally operating an enterprise, you need to stick to policies, codes that are defined by the company.  You need to throw away your rugged jeans as you are promoted from a startup to an MNC. You need to be elegantly dressed in order to be a part of the enterprise where everything is at a global level.

MNCs do not entertain any such thing which involves chaotic discussion or ambiguous planning. At boardroom meetings and round table conference, the vision and mission are well presented so that everything that is in oblivion is brought to light and necessary contributions made thereto!

Though tiring at the work is at MNC, but they contribute to your overall growth. Work hours are in a way that family and personal space are not invaded. Your family time, your time and my time is well respected and no cultures of stretched work hours. Whatever overtime you do is paid too!

Parties and get together are rendezvous at MNC. It may be your birthday or your anniversary, you need to behave in a disciplined way and can have fun in a way as long it is not disturbing to your colleagues.

You may be good at auditing or finance but unless you have a degree stating your specialisation in auditing, you are so not welcome. Flocking skills is exactly not what they do at MNC. Your degree matters.

Thus at MNC you are promoted to a significantly higher position be it responsibility or pay scale, you need to respect your work ethics and stick by the codes.
