Inception

The concept of TNine came from the entrepreneurship course being taught in Delhi University’s Cluster Innovation Centre. A bunch of young enthusiasts started TNine Infotech (the name is attributed to the number of their classroom, T9) as an IT Services and consultancy firm, aiming to provide cost-effective IT services to startups. Co-founded in early 2016 by Anurag and Om Prakash, the team soon found another co-founder in the form of Rahul Maurya.

TNine served as much as 40 clients from industry and academia in a span of 1 year. While serving clients, they gained lots of insights in product design and development. They soon started applying the knowledge in mobile application domain and came up with their marquee android application, Crumblyy.

Since its inception, Crumblyy has maintained top position in its category. With the simple vision of presenting useful content to users in the short, crisp and most intuitive manner, the application has been accepted widely across the globe.

Hand-held at the Delhi University Technology Business Incubator, TNine has proven to be one of the fastest growing startups of the campus.

Unique Key Features

TNine boasts of a young close-knit team of 7 people having average age just 22 and combined experience of 15 years. TNine have a blend of techies along with design & content ninjas which is why they are able to propagate apps in multiple domains be it Content Media or FinTech.

In an already crowded market like content publishing making an impact could not be done with traditional methods.

Following are the unique key points of Crumblyy, the marquee mobile application of TNine:

- Crumblyy serves useful content from various channels (blogs, news, articles, etc.) in a small card-like format for easy consumption.

- It lets you search from a range of useful tricks rather hacks that may help you conquer daily life easily.

- It consists of a large database of tips and tricks in multiple categories be it Technology, Food, Makeup or Parenting etc.

- Instead of searching on google just type in Crumblyy and save time.

- Offline consumption of content.

- Generates traffic to various blogs.

Differentiation

a. Unlike other competitors in content media, TNine is not web focused; instead they have a mobile-first platform, Crumblyy

b. While there are many content aggregators and viral content websites, the startup is focused on the content that is not "just another swipe" type; instead useful in daily life.

c. Most important point in favor of Crumblyy is that it focuses on quality instead of quantity. That's why they publish not more than 15-20 new cards in a day.

Funding & Monetization

TNine is currently a bootstrapped startup and monetizes through in-app advertising.

Crumblyy has following monetization sources:

- Native ads from Google Admob.

- Traffic sharing with content partners on PPC and profit sharing basis.

Proposed revenue methods:

- Tagging products in related cards

- In-app purchases for business soliciting users and professional bloggers.

- YouTube channel advertisements.

- Partnering with affiliates

Challenges Faced

Following are the challenges being faced by TNine -

- Generating quality content in minimum characters: As the product is mobile-focused, decreasing user time span on digital devices has to be kept in mind. To hook a user to Crumblyy, quality content in a precise and crisp format has to be generated constantly.

- Regular validation of content: as a lot of the content is generated every second in the internet space, credibility is becoming a concern for users, which keeps the team on toes, trying to validate content at a certain level and then publish on the app.

- Getting users hooked up with the app continuously: Most of the apps these days have a very short shelf life, this fact always keep the team agile to provide an experience that users get addicted to.

Traction Numbers

The app launched on May 22 gathered more than 8, 80,000+ downloads in less than 7 months of launch of the MVP. A full-fledged version is currently in closed beta and the stable release is slated to be launched in the last week of December.
