Can A Mentor Become An Investor?

Can A Mentor Become An Investor?
Can A Mentor Become An Investor?

A mentor is a person with conviction, vision and an inclination towards growth; one who opens the mind to new possibilities and helps you move your career forward. Mentoring is a responsibility; a commitment that requires valuable time and focused attention to assure that the mentee’s goals are progressing forward. If we are looking at a mentor who has the epithets for your current problem, it is also critical to determine how that person can help you.

In all stages of life, we may come across mentors with a variety of dexterity and experiences. One could have a general mentor, who could look at how you are growing up on your personal side, to shape your overall outlook towards life. Also, you could have another mentor who could look at your professional side to ensure your path to financial success. Once a person has some financial implication to any business, she or he will ensure that her or his interest is protected at all times. The advice that she or he has to give may not be forthcoming if that is going to affect her or his own fortune. With these lessons learnt, I opine that getting a mentor at any stage of life is a must. However, be sure the person has no investment in anything you do, as prejudiced guidance may not be 100% forthcoming from her or him.

It is important to note that age is no barrier to being a mentor. Older mentors have more experience in life, and the young mentors have new ideas. By combining experience and future deals that are constantly changing, we are able to ensure a balanced outlook from your mentors. It is also important to ensure that the person is very open when it comes to two-way communication, willing to listen and able to guide on specific issues. Most of all, the person has to be in a state of mind, where she or he feels that the knowledge she or he is sharing will guide you.

Effective communication within the organisation takes efforts, repetitions and thoughtfulness, and most importantly, needs to come from the heart. There are different tools and ways to communicate in order to collaborate on a platform.

I am a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO), a global community of leading entrepreneurs that is member-led.

I currently serve as Communications Director, and I help enable entrepreneurs to learn and grow from each other, which leads to greater business success, and at the same time, allows for an enriched personal life. Having served as Chapter President of EO’s Nepal chapter, as well as the Regional Council for South Asia, EO has changed my entire perception of business and life. I have grown much stronger in thoughts, wiser in vision and happier with the amount of like-minded people I have met. With effective communication, we strive hard to connect and network with every individual. With a strong personal network now spread in more than 50 countries across the world, I believe that EO has truly given me the world on my fingertips.
