He has been associated with Barcelos India since November 2014 as Business Head –India. Prior to this, he has worked in Barcelos Sudan & Egypt as a Franchise Manager. For one year in 2012-2013, he has been associated with Nando’s India as a Operations Manager. Prior to Nando’s India, he has closely worked with many global outlets of Nando’s.

Barcelos started in 1993 in Pretoria and In India, they launched the first restaurant in Khan Market, New Delhi in March 2015. In India ,it started as direct investment by company(Barcelos worldwide) under leadership of Mr. Rohit Malhotra, In April 2016 company has given out rights of master franchise where as Rohit Malhotra is acting as business head.

How was it started?
As Barcelos is a casual Dining restaurant chain famous for its Peri – Peri Flame Grilled menu so company realized and chose India as biggest target market and they started operations in country ,setup supply chain , base infrastructure and team to expand further.

Unique key feature/services?
Peri peri grilled chicken, Colored burgers (black, red and white) and Sangria bar are USP of the brand.

How is it different from other outlets which are your competitors?

Barcelos is a household name for its flame grilled menu with peri peri sauce. From revolutionizing the concept of ‘burger’ in India by presenting it in different colors to introducing India’s first Sangria Bar, Barcelos have always been talk of the town. Barcelos is kind of a place which nobody would like to miss as it has always surprised people with its gourmet innovations. All the innovative offerings of Barcelos make it a hot choice of foodies where they can enjoy the good food in a good ambience.

The Current Funding Status?
Initial funds were invested by company under FDI. Now master franchise is investing on it also single unit franchises are investing as well.

We charge as royalty from each outlet on net sales.

What kind of Marketing plans do you have in mind?

Social media and online marketing along with radio and hoardings will be top source of advertising for us targeting the audience of 14 years to 40 years old as these age group people are Health conscious, well travelled and prone to experiment with food. We are targeting expats also.

What kind of challenges have you been facing?
Real estate prices , skilled manpower and liaising are few to mention here.

What kind of Market size & opportunity are you looking at?
Market is growing with 24% annually which indicates the large growth in organized sector. There is lesser competition for us as people are highly concerned about diet habit where as Barcelos fits rightly and comes as a first option.
